Over 40-year Northeast Ohio radio veteran Chuck Collins has died at the age of 62 after a long battle with brain cancer. Since 2007, Collins had worked as the operations manager the Rubber City Radio Group cluster in Akron, also serving as midday host for WAKR-AM. Collins started his radio career in Cleveland in 1974.
From 2002 through 2013, Collins published a series of radio industry-themed mystery/thriller novels, called The Radio Murders. He also created an e-book about his inspirational struggle with brain cancer, called Robbing Mind: How Attitude and Intention Helped Prevent a Fate Worse Than Death. Proceeds from sales of the e-book went to a charity that helped families dealing with brain health issues.
The WAKR website has a page set up for remembrances of Chuck Collins, which can be viewed HERE.
