The Detroit News is reporting that CBS Radio, Cumulus and Greater Media plan to fight it out for the play-by-play rights to the Detroit Tigers. Negotiations are underway for the 2016 season and beyond. Since 2001 CBS has carried the Tigers (as well as the NHL's Detroit Red Wings) utilizing WXYT-AM and 97.1 The Ticket and a 39-affiliate network. WJR, now owned by Cumulus, carried Tigers games from 1964-2000.
