Scott Van Pelt, co-host of ESPN Radio's SVP & Russillo, will be exiting his afternoon show later this summer. Van Pelt is not leaving ESPN, though. He has signed a multi-year extension with the company which will see him hosting ESPN's midnight edition of SportsCenter. Popular elements of his radio show will be incorporated into the hour-long telecast. Van Pelt will also continue to host ESPN golf coverage.
According to what was discussed on their radio show today, plans are still being worked out to have the ESPN Radio afternoon program continue with Ryen Russillo hosting solo. No date has yet been announced for Van Pelt's departure from radio and start of his midnight television show.
ESPN SVP of SportsCenter and News said: "We believe Scott's one-of-a-kind blend of intellect, humor, and sports fandom will place a new, entertaining stamp on the midnight SportsCenter. Placed between the 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. editions of SportsCenter, Scott will have the freedom to focus on the day's most compelling storylines and offer his own imprint, in addition to the perspective of his assembled cast of characters."
