Syndication company Westwood One announced the introduction of a second version of its 24/7 Classic Hits format. The new version, called Classic Hits-Rock, features rock and pop music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, but without the dance, R&B, and Motown tracks that the original version features.
President of Programming at Westwood One Kirk Stirland said: "Depending on the musical heritage of a market, we found that affiliates either wanted a version that included just the rock and pop hits, or one that covered the whole spectrum. Now, with these two recipes, we'll be able to provide stations with the winning mix, whatever the opportunity in their market."
