Cherry Creek Radio is selling its two Lake Tahoe radio stations -- KLRT-FM and KOWL-AM -- to D&H Broadcasting, which is owned by Steve Harness, the current general manager of both stations. Pending FCC approval, Harness' company will take ownership on July 1.
Harness has been with the Lake Tahoe radio stations since 2007, serving as GM since last year.
Cherry Creek Radio owner Joe Schwartz said in a statement: "It was important to me that these stations go to a local owner/operator. That's how they would serve the Tahoe community best and nobody is more suited to be the owner then Steve Harness. He's been an outstanding employee for the last eight years and has made the stations what they are today. He has our full support as he takes these heritage Tahoe radio stations to the next level."
