Cumulus Media Dips 1.1% in Third Quarter

Cumulus Media Dips 1.1% in Third Quarter.  That figure is for the company as a whole and is a percentage change based on net revenue of $286.1 million for the third quarter of 2016.  For the first nine months of this year, revenue is $841.9 million, down 2.1% from the nine month-period in 2015.  Cumulus breaks the company into two cumulus-logosegments – the Radio Station Group, and Westwood One.  The latter has been the most troublesome for Cumulus.  Westwood One net revenue was down 5.5% over the same period in 2015 while the Radio Station Group was basically flat – up just 0.7% on revenue of $206 million.  President and CEO Mary Berner says, "A year into our turnaround effort, we have made considerable progress against our operational priorities while leading the industry in ratings growth.  Though our performance in the quarter was negatively impacted by headwinds which have challenged us all year, we see evidence that our work is paying off financially as we gained share this quarter for the first time in at least four years.  As we seek to maintain the momentum of our initial strategies, we have now also launched a focused effort to improve sales execution as the next logical step in our turnaround plan."
Press Communications Names Dalesio COO and Market President.  New Jersey's Press Communications announces that is has named Don Dalesio chief operating officer and market president.dalesiodon  Dalesio has most recently been serving as market president and chief revenue officer for Townsquare Media.  Press operates five radio stations in New Jersey: country WKMK, Eatontown; oldies WHTG-AM, Eatontown; hot AC WWZY, Long Branch; CHR WBBO, Ocean Acres; and classic hits WBHS, Tuckerton.  During his career, Dalesio has also served with Nassau Broadcasting as COO.  Press Communications CEO Robert McAllan comments, "We are very excited to welcome Don to our Press team.  Not only will Don help us diversify our product lines, but also Don will help us drive the effectiveness of our advertiser relationships by providing his valuable insights and successful sales selling strategies."
