DJ Laz (pictured), who hosts the morning show on Beasley's Power96 in Miami, has been linked to a murder-suicide involving one of his friends. The Miami Herald is reporting that Marcus Trotman, who had been working with DJ Laz as an engineer, shot his wife and her mother before turning the gun on himself, leaving two children motherless. The gun used in the shooting may have been owned by the popular South Florida morning man. Police are checking forensics to confirm.
The paper says Sunrise police confirmed that the gun recovered from the shooting scene ? a Walther PPK .380 caliber handgun ? was the same make and model as one reported missing by Mendez. It is not clear when the gun was reported stolen.
