Emmis Launches Comedy in Austin

Comedy 102.7 makes its broadcast debut in Austin as Emmis adds a 24-hour comedy station and newest affiliate of the Texas-based 24/7 Comedy Radio Network. Emmis is making good use of every possible way to get content out to listeners. This comedy station is an HD3 channel of KGSR which is retransmitted on a translator.

Market Manager, Scott Gillmore said, ?Austin is renowned for its live music scene and music-loving residents, and that scene is supported by great local radio stations playing a wide variety of musical artists. Now the growing Austin comedy scene will have a place on their radio dial to find their favorite comedians, to discover new comedians and to provide an outlet for the local comedy scene too!?

The station?s format will consist of thousands and thousands of short, two to three minute long, stand-up routines. Featured acts will range from legendary comics such as Richard Pryor, George Carlin, and Rodney Dangerfield, to contemporary comedians like Jim Gaffigan, Wanda Sykes, Chris Rock, Jeff Foxworthy, Dane Cook, Jerry Seinfeld, Ron White, and Chelsea Handler - as well as Austin-based funnymen like Andy Ritchie and Shane Mauss.
