Liberman Settles TV-Related Indecency Claim

11/15/13

FCC indecency enforcement has been all but nonexistent for years as its indecency policy is bounced from one federal court to another, but Liberman Broadcasting has settled a TV-related indecency case with the commission, agreeing to a voluntary payment of $110,000 and a three-year "comprehensive compliance plan."

The complaint, dating back to 2011, involved the Jose Luis Sin Censura program, which was accused of engaging "in behavior inconsistent with the commission's indecency standards for broadcast programming that is aired during the day and early evening." Liberman stopped airing the show in 2012.

The compliance plan will include the appointment of a compliance officer,  the creation of a compliance manual, employee training, and compliance reporting to the FCC.
