The Boston Business Journal reports Glenn Beck, in a recent legal filing, says his on-air remarks inaccurately linking a Saudi Arabian student to the Boston Marathon bombings were protected by the First Amendment. Abdulrahman Alharbi was near the finish line when the bombs exploded and was investigated and cleared by police. On the air Beck called Alharbi a "bad, bad" person and said he financed the attacks. Beck has asked a federal judge to dismiss the case Alharb filed against him and Premiere.

His 'damn the facts' style represents everything that is wrong with talking heads on the left and right ends of the political spectrum. Anything is fair game in the name of driving ratings. It's sad that radio gives a platform for Glenn and others like him.

I read somewhere that Glenn was a fellow who never met a subtlety or nuance he wouldn't ignore. Perhaps it's no wonder he might be surprised.
