Young programmed KILT-AM, "The Big 610" in Houston for 15 years during its Top 40 heyday (the CBS station is now Sports). Young also authored a book in 2011 called Dead Air, The Rise and Demise of Music Radio, which was a memoir of his successful career in radio and includes details from his first job on the air to his 15 years as PD of KILT. Young was from Hudson, Texas, a small town just outside Lufkin where he got his first radio job at KTRE as a senior in high school at the age of 16. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a contribution be made to the Alpha-1 Foundation at http://www.alpha-1foundation.org/, or to the charity of your choice. Tributes may be left on the website of the Settegast-Kopf Funeral Home at Sugar Creek.
