CBS Radio Revenue Rises In Q1

CBS Radio Revenue Rises In Q1

CBS Radio sees its radio revenue move up 9 percent, to $282.7 million from $259.7 million, as parent CBS Corp. reports its first-quarter results. CBS Corp. President/CEO Leslie Moonves said local radio and TV "are in the midst of a dramatic upswing." For the company overall, revenue was up 12 percent in the quarter, to $3.53 billion from $3.16 billion.

Artist Sues Radio One, Alleging Music Ban

Houston-based rapper Frasier Thompson, who performs as Trae Tha Truth, has filed suit against Radio One, KBXX/Houston GM Doug Abernathy, PD Terri Thomas, and morning show member Nnete Inyangumia, saying the station "officially banned" his music and interfered with his relationships in the music industry.

Nonprofits Buy Option On Pittsburgh Noncomm

Four nonprofit foundations have purchased a 60-day option on the license for Duquesne University noncomm WDUQ-FM, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. The groups don't want to own the station, but instead hope to give other potential bidders more time.
