Thursday afternoon Chris Coleman called to let us know he received our first check and it's helped him out quite a bit. He's had to drive his girls 30 miles to school because of where he's staying but his insurance company is working to find him a place to stay closer to the school, and the radio station. For those of you that have donated to Chris via our PayPal account he wanted us to let you know how appreciative he is. Chris has quite a great spirit for someone who lost everything, and nearly lost his family. Friday at 5PM we will close out our PayPal account for Chris. A bankruptcy court judge gives approval for Longport Media owned by George Miller to buy the five radio stations owned by Atlantic Broadcasting for $4.2 million. Miller is an attorney in Atlantic City according to www.pressofatlanticcity.com. Miller takes over in about a week. |

Net revenue increased to $44.0 million for the three-month period ending March 31, 2011 from $43.1 million a year ago. The company says the increase "came from our television segment and was primarily attributable to retransmission consent revenue." On the radio side the company was amazingly flat, reporting a decrease of $52.00 compared to Q1 of 2010. Net revenue for radio was $13,376,000 in Q1 of 2011. In Q1 of 2010 net revenue was $13,428,000. |

The name Gabriel Garcia has been on the bad boy list of the FCC before. The commission says Garcia has been operating a station in San Jose using the call letters KNRG (93.7). He's doing that without a license. His latest hit comes as a result of not allowing the commission to inspect his unlicensed operation. And the commission says "we conclude that Garcia is apparently liable for a forfeiture in the amount of twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000). |

Mike Greenberg, half of ESPN's Mike & Mike morning show, has been asked to produce a sitcom based on his book "Why My Wife Thinks I'm an Idiot," according to a report in Variety. The show will be produced for ABC (both ABC and ESPN are owned by Disney). Apparently the sitcom will focus on a sportscaster and morning show host married to a woman that hates sports. Colin Cowherd, another ESPN host, is also working on a TV show about his life. |

I'm preparing for a weeklong trip to a property where the annual fiscal year starts in September. Next week we're doing our Strategic Budget Planners. It's an annual look at every account at the property. Peter Drucker says only 3 percent of managers ever think about the future. Many managers like to go through superficial annual budgets that they usually give "top-down," dictating to their sales reps what their numbers will be for the year ahead, with very little sales rep buy-in. |
