Tim Sanders, author of 4 books including his latest entitled Today We Are Rich opened up the Radio Ink Convergence show by telling the audience that he sells more books when he does a radio interview than any other promotional appearances he does, including The Today Show and USA Today. Sanders' presentation wasn't only about how to sell books, it was about leadership, innovation, confidence and disruptive technology. He says confidence is rocket fuel in life. And when up on stage Sanders sweats confidence. He's one of those people in life that you just know is happy and positive all the time. |

When you get an opportunity to spend time with people using their iPhones or Android devices, you get a real sense of how consumers have developed relationships with those devices. Radio, for the longest time, has had a special relationship with consumers. Radio executives and managers, to this day, still tout the bond listeners have with their local station or morning DJ. When Fred Jacobs played video of the consumers he tracked in a recent study it was more confirmation that consumers are doing nearly everything on these tiny devices. Banking, games, e-mail, making calls, using it as a flashlight, taking pictures, and yes, listening to music. But these consumers in cities like L.A., Cleveland, Baltimore, and Dallas were not telling Jacobs, "I have my favorite radio station app" on their phones. Is that a problem for radio? |

As more and more stations and broadcasters are beginning to realize, online listeners and visitors are not only used to seeing ads, but are in full acceptance of ads. According to Forbes Magazine, Amazon recently conducted their own survey of Kindle customers and came up with some not-so-surprising facts. Facts that are, indeed, of great interest to the world of e-commerce and online publishers. This is not new information to many, like myself, that are deeply involved with online streaming and the monetization thereof on a daily basis. |
