The Battle Over PPM. Is a Peace Accord in Sight?

3-9-2012

Hispanic radio broadcasters have long had concerns about the PPM and how it affects their formats. Just this week, Arbitron told clients that it's almost ready to roll out a new, easier-to-use version of the PPM that doesn't require a hub or a landline phone. What does that mean for Hispanic radio? And what about the PPM's loss of MRC accreditation in five markets -- including two of the top 25 Hispanic markets?

All that and much more will be discussed by a panel, including participants from Arbitron and the MRC, specially focused on ratings and the PPM, at Radio Ink's Hispanic Radio Conference, being held March 21-22 in San Diego.

"The accurate measurement of Hispanic radio is one of the most critical issues facing the industry," said panel moderator Rosemary Scott, VP/Research & Corporate Communications for Border Media Partners. "It impacts everything from Hispanic radio's ability to compete for audiences and advertising budgets, to how talent is compensated. It can even conceivably affect what kind of talent Hispanic radio will be able to recruit and retain. We have been extremely fortunate in assembling a stellar panel of experts who are especially well qualified to address these and other compelling issues of importance to Hispanic radio. They will be answering the hard-hitting questions that keep you up at night.  If you have an interest in accurate radio ratings, English, Spanish, or otherwise, this is a session you won?t want to miss."
