Austin based startup Umbel has hired Dr. Thomas Evans as Chief Research Officer. Evans will be be in charge of all research activities: methodologies, metrics and approaches at Umbel. On the publisher side, Evans has worked with ESPN, Westwood One and ABC and on the media research side with Nielsen Media Research and Arbitron. He has also served as a chairman of the Media Rating Council and on the Audio Research Committee for the Interactive Advertising Bureau.
Umbel is an audience measurement company that cross-correlates data from social and other sources for publishers, agencies and advertisers with revenue-generating insights. Umbel leverages social data to deliver insights about the people who engage with a site, service or brand. The company was founded in 2010 by Meredith Maycotte, Higinio (H.O.) Maycotte, Travis Turner and Nick Goggans. Based in Austin, TX, Umbel is currently in private beta.
