Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price says Service Broadcasting's K104 FM and Smooth R&B 105.7 FM stepped in to save the event, providing financial support and boots on the ground. Price created the December event, which draws over 50,000 people, in 1990 and was to be canceled due to declining sponsorships and increased costs.
Price told the Dallas Morning News the stations pledged to cover about a third of the festival?s estimated $90,000 budget and the response has been so strong that they expect this is going to be the largest KwanzaaFest ever.
