NPR has announced that it will soon offer Chevrolet and Opel owners a new, more personalized way to access NPR and public radio news, programs, and local stations in their vehicles. Chevrolet announced today at CES that the NPR News app is one of the initial offerings in the in-car AppShop, available this summer in select Chevrolet vehicles with MyLink technology. The NPR News app also hits international pavement this year in the Opel Insignia sedan for the European market.
Developed by NPR, the app is the first dedicated news app Chevrolet plans to offer, and provides US drivers with news, culture, and humor from NPR and more than 900 public radio stations nationwide, including live broadcast listening and more than 80 all-music streams. All NPR newsmagazines and programs, like Morning Edition, Tell Me More, and Ask Me Another, are available to hear in the app. The app uses a vehicle?s GPS location to automatically localize listening to the nearest NPR member station. The NPR News app can be downloaded for free by accessing the AppShop through an on-screen icon.
