With political ad dollars making such an impact on radio budgets -- and comps in the following year -- we were surprised to hear that San Diego radio stations did not even call on City Councilmember David Alvarez during his most recent political campaign. That's according to Alvarez, who was a panel member at the Radio Ink Hispanic Radio Conference in San Diego on Tuesday. He said he was not approached in any way to use radio as a marketing tool in his campaign. With 10,000 new Hispanic voters now of age to vote, Alvarez said radio should have come to him with a campaign to target that category.
We asked Alvarez about his experience with radio and how the radio industry might be able to increase their political ad revenue.
