According to the latest Nielsen report about Public Radio, Public Radio may need to game plan how to reach a younger audience. Nielsen says Baby Boomers listen to Public Radio the longest. 9.4 million listeners between the ages of 50 and 64 tune in for six hours every week. Generation Xers (35-64) are next, listening for four hours and fifteen minutes every week. And, the youngest group, millenials (18-34) are last, listening in for three hours and fifteen minutes every week. Taking a look at the map, Washington DC has the biggest fan base for Public Radio (30.5%) followed by Vermont (26.1%), Minnesota (21.2%), New Hampshire (19.7%) and Oregon (19.2%). Overall, Nielsen says Public Radio reaches 32 million people 12 years old or older every week. Read more about the Nielsen report HERE
