Texas Listener Says "Radio's Tornado Coverage Saved My Life."

Tuesday was a tough one for residents in Tyler and other parts of East Texas. Tornado warnings and watches were in effect until 10PM and with footage of the St. Louis airport still fresh in their minds, people were not taking any chances. Neither was the cluster of five stations owned by TownSquare Media which went wall-to-wall with weather coverage beginning at 4PM. KRLD-AM in Dallas was also doing an excellent job informing residents about the severe weather, even though it appeared the bigger city was not the main target of the worst weather activity.

Public safety is one reason the NAB is making a push to install the chips. Yesterday, Radio Ink publisher Eric Rhoads wrote an editorial about the chips and debuted a new commercial we hope radio stations can use to help educate the public.

FrontFour is accusing the current Fisher CEO of incompetence and they believe the board of directors is letting that incompetence slide.
