After a suspension and an apology KFI-AM afternoon talkers have agreed to go to sensitivity training after making crude comments about Whitney Houston. Clear Channel suspended John Kobylt and Ken Chiampou, last month after they making derogatory comments following the death of the singer.
According to a KFI "memorandum to the Los Angeles Community" station executives and talent there have had "individual conversations and community meetings" that have resulted in six courses of action. One of them is: "John and Ken, along with key staff and management, will participate in cultural sensitivity training furthering their awareness of the cultural melting pot that is Southern California."
KFI also says John and Ken have apologized twice now and included guests to discuss why their comments were offensive to the African-American community. The station also said it will expand its internship program to target minority students and it will "update guidelines for our on-air hosts in a way that is helpful in a live unscripted environment."
