Auto Makes up 22% of Entravision Radio Revenue

5-8-2012

Good news from the automotive category was offset by dismal news from the wireless sector according to Entravision executives. The company reported flat radio revenue in the first quarter of 2012, much of the blame is being placed on national advertising, down 12%. Entravision reported automotive grew 32% with Ford spending $177,000 in the quarter, an increase of 70%. ATT&T decreased by 60% and Verizon was down 23%. McDonalds was the top radio advertiser for Entravision and the automotive category now makes up 22% of the entire radio revenue pie at Entravision. CEO alter Ulloa (pictured) said "the company is very focused on cold calls to grow new business."

Ulloa also said Entravision's Los Angeles radio cluster was up 5% in Q1 and the company's interactive division is becoming increasingly important, now making up 2% of the total revenue at Entravision, having experienced a growth of 28% in the first quarter of 2012. Entravision is expecting political ad spending to pick up in the next two quarters. The Obama campaign is committed to both radio and TV at Entravision and Q2 political revenue on Entravision's radio stations could hit $225K.
