The FCC has denied Big D Consulting's petition for reconsideration of its grant of a construction permit for KRYL-FM/Haiku, HI to Big Island Broadcasting.
Big Island was the winning bidder for a new commercial FM back in 2004 but took the station -- then KUHI -- silent in 2008 while it relocated. Big D said the grant of Big Island's application precluded its own plan to upgrade KNAN-FM.
The FCC said that Big D had standing, but that it failed to identify any defect in Big Island's application that would warrant reconsideration. The station has since been sold to Hochman and is now KRYL.
