Polls: Most Don't Link Politics, Tucson Shootings

A new Rasmussen survey finds that 58 percent of adults say the shootings in Tucson were not politically motivated, but a random act by an unstable person. That follows a CBS News poll in which nearly 60 percent said political speech is not to blame for the shooting, in which Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and 13 others were wounded and six people were killed.

CBS Names Communications Dirs. In Boston, S.F.

CBS Local Media -- which includes CBS Radio -- names Ro Dooley-Webster market communications director for Boston, while Akilah Bolden-Monifa takes the same post in San Francisco. Dooley-Webster is communications director for CBS's WBZ-TV, while Bolden-Monifa has headed communications for CBS's KPIX-TV and KBCW-TV since 2002.

NPR in an e-mail to political publication The Hill called bills that would end federal funding to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting "an intrusion into the programming decisionmaking of America's public radio stations."

MetroPCS Plan Draws Net Neutrality Complaints

Groups including Free Press and Media Access Project have written to FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski to complain that new MetroPCS broadband service plans violate FCC net neutrality rules by charging extra for additional "data access," a term the groups contend includes such services as Skype and Netflix. MetroPCS responds that its plans comply with open Internet rules.
