Gallagher: 'We've Stopped Something Terrible From Happening'

Salem Radio Networks' Mike Gallagher spoke to Radio Ink about his decision -- controversial in some circles -- to give the Westboro Baptist Church a forum on his show this morning in return for the group's agreement not to picket the funerals of the Tucson shooting victims. Gallagher says, "To do this kind of a deal has prevented them from hurting these six families, and for that I'm very proud."

Dial Global relaunches its nine "Live and Local" localized formats, adding 38 full- and part-time air personalities broadcasting from such stations as KRTH/Los Angeles, KVIL/Dallas, and WPLJ/New York.

Stern Renews Video On Demand Deal

Howard Stern, newly re-signed to Sirius XM, has renewed his video-on-demand deal with In Demand as well. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Levin Threatens Suit Over 'Hardball' Comments

Citadel Media personality Mark Levin is threatening to sue MSNBC Hardball's Chris Matthews and other MSNBC hosts who have said Levin may have influenced the suspect in the January 8 Tucson shootings.

DeGraaf Named CMG/Athens OM

Pete DeGraaf, PD of Cox Media Group's WNGG/Athens, GA, adds cluster OM duties; he'll oversee WNGC and Talk clustermates WGAU-AM and WXKT-FM.

Canadian Stations Defy 'Money For Nothing' Ban

Classic Rockers K-97 in Edmonton, AB, and NewCap sister Q104/Halifax, NS, are risking the wrath of the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council, with both stations planning to spend a full hour Friday evening airing Dire Straits' "Money for Nothing." The CBSC recently ruled that the unedited song, which contains the word "faggot," is too offensive for the Canadian airwaves.

FCC Commissioner Meredith Attwell Baker will speak at the NAB Show's "Washington Face-Off" session, set for April 12. The NAB Show will be held April 11-14 in Las Vegas.
