Genachowski Talks Spectrum At CES

FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski spoke at opening day of the Consumer Electronics Show, talking about the importance and quick growth of mobile broadband, and the need to ensure sufficient spectrum is available. He said, "We're in the early stages of a mobile revolution that is sparking an explosion in wireless traffic. Without action, demand for spectrum will soon outstrip supply."

NPR's board has completed its review of the firing of news analyst Juan Williams, setting a number of policy changes and denying President/CEO Vivian Schiller a bonus for 2010, though the board also concluded the termination was in line with Williams' contract. Additionally, a top executive at NPR News has resigned.

The Broadcaster Traffic Consortium brings in Barbara Janiak as project manager, coming in from managing branded websites for Eli LIlly & Co. BTC is a group of 16 radio braodcasters working on distributing traffic and other info via HD Radio technology.

HD Radio Showcased At CES

There's an HD Radio Showcase at the Consumer Electronics Show, taking place now in Las Vegas, where attendees can see new advanced features, with Volkswagen showing a car with a new combination of special features. iBiquity also said that the HD Radio Alliance will be managing consumer marketing campaigns in 2011 that will add up to more than $120 million in consumer marketing.

Report: EEO Complaint Filed Against Clear Channel

Seven Clear Channel/New Orleans employees have filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, WDSU-TV reports. The AEs, who are black, say they were paid lower commissions and given fewer leads than white salespeople.
