JVC's 104.9 (WYGC-FM) in Gainseville was broadcasting a simulcast of My Country 102.3 out of Ocala. JVC management says the new format, favorite hits from the 60s to the 80s, put them in a better position to generate revenue. Three full-time people have been hired and the station is looking for more. In addition to WYGC, JVC Media of Florida also operates Q92 (WMFQ ? CHR/Hit Music), Party 100.9 (WXJZ/WBXY - Dance), and 102.3 My Country FM (WTRS - Country), in the Ocala/Gainesville market.
Market Manager and JVC Media of Florida Vice President Shane Reeve said, ?As a fan of this type of music genre, it was unbelievable to me no one in the Gainesville/Ocala market was providing an outlet for the greatest hits from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. 104.9 WOW FM will be community and promotionally active with charity events, concerts, and amazing giveaways.
