Rob Kruz Named PD for CHR WFLZ, Tampa

Rob Kruz Named PD for CHR WFLZ, Tampa.  Programmer Rob Kruz is appointed to the program director position at iHeartMedia's CHR WFLZ, Tampa.  He takes over for John Mayer, who resigned to relocate to New York for family reasons.  Kruz was most recently PD and afternoon jock at iHM's WZFT, Baltimore "Z 104.3."kruz  iHeartMedia Tampa SVP of programming Travis Daily states, "I could not be more excited for Rob to join our team at '93.3 FLZ,' which already amazes and humbles me on a daily basis.  Rob is the perfect fit for this family and we can't wait for him to help write the next chapter in the history of a very special radio station."  In addition to his work at WZFT, Kruz also was an air talent at WITH, Washington and WQAL, Cleveland.  He began his radio career in Detroit at WDRQ while he attended the University of Michigan.
Berger Named 'Power 106' Los Angeles' Imaging Director.  Imaging pro Andrew Berger is named imaging director for Emmis Communications' hip hop KPWR, Los Angeles "Power 106."  Berger rose to be singled out kpwr-logoby DJ Enuff of WQHT and joined him as imaging director and producer for DJ Enuff's weekly show, "The Heavy Hitters," on SiriusXM's SHADE 45 channel.  Emmis VP of programming Jimmy Steal comments, "We did an extensive search for this position and Andrew Berger was beyond impressive with his amazing imaging skills, great work ethic, and high energy.  He's the perfect fit for our talented team."  Berger comments, "I can't wait to join the 'Power 106' family.  Emmis is where I fell in love with radio and now to have the opportunity to contribute to this legendary station as its imaging director is a dream come true!  I look forward to working alongside the great talent that makes 'Power 106' the leading brand in radio."
More RadioInfo Career Moves.  In San Diego, Entercom inks country KSON midday personality Amber Rainey to a new, multi-year contract.  Rainey took over the daypart after Brooks O'Brian transitioned to off-air responsibilities in 2015…..Jay Morris is exiting his brand manager role with Midwest Communications' Kalamazoo station group where he programmed alternative WZOX, news/talk WKZO, and sports talk WQLR for a gig outside of the radio biz.  Cluster director of operations and programming Steve Mills assumes PD duties on an interim basis…..Amani Abraham transitions the anchor/reporter role at Rubber City Radio's country WQMX and news/talk WAKR in Akron to WKYC-TV, Cleveland to serve as a reporter…..Spotify's Martin Lorentzon relinquishes the chairman role at the digital pure play but will remain vice chairman of the board.  Chief executive officer Daniel Ek is taking over the chairman position.
Ed Levine's Galaxy Communications to Buy Western Massachusetts Radio Group.  Syracuse, New York-Based Galaxy Communications announces it has signed a definitive agreement to buy the six-station radio group operating as Berkshires Media Group from parent company Gamma Broadcasting for an undisclosed sum.  galaxycommunicationsThe stations are: hot AC WBEC-FM, Pittsfield; news/talk WBEC-AM, Pittsfield-AM; classic hits WUPE-AM/FM, North Adams; AC WSBS-AM, Great Barrington; and AC WNAW-AM, North Adams.  Levine says, "These six radio stations do a tremendous job of serving their communities with great local radio. They have thrived under the ownership of Gamma Broadcasting, which has done a wonderful job. I look forward to working with market manager Peter Barry and the entire staff of radio professionals."  Gamma president Bruce Danziger adds, "We feel confident placing our terrific stations and people in Ed Levine's capable hands.  This is a special group, led by Peter, and we know Ed's oversight will continue to bring good results for our people and the community."
