FCC Orders Matching $10K Non-Compliance Fines

The FCC?s media bureau handed down $10,000 forfeitures during a pair of license renewal reviews. The applications were from Media Ministries, Inc., which was seeking a renewal of its license for KBMQ-FM/Monroe, LA, and Double O South Carolina Corporation which requested renewal of its license for WWNQ-FM/Forest Acres, SC.

Both stations were found to have failed to retain ?all required documentation? in their public inspection files. The violations were deemed extensive and occurred over periods of seven and four years respectively.

$10,000 was the base forfeiture amount in both cases and, while the bureau has the power to adjust that up or down, it chose not to in either case. It also determined that there were no grounds warranting designation for evidentiary hearing and that the licenses would be renewed upon conclusion of the forfeitures.
