Internet Advertising Jumps To $31 billion in 2011

Reuters is reporting that Internet ad revenue jumped 22% year over year with display and search revenue make up the bulk of spending. Mobile advertising also saw a jump, increasing 149%, to $1.6 billion. Even with the big gain, mobile revenue is still a small number when compared to the total. The total spend for the year was $31 billion setting a new record, according to a report from the IAB released on Wednesday. The report says search was up 27% finishing the year at $14.7 billion. Reuters compares the Internet revenue to newspapers which decreased 50% over the past five years, totaling $23.9 billion
