Chuck Custer began his career with WGY on Memorial Day in 1984 anchoring night-time newscasts. A few years later, he moved to mornings with legendary host Don Weeks, where he anchored the morning news for 23 years. In 1994 Custer was promoted to News Director at WGY and later added PD duties. Custer says it's been an incredible and rewarding 30 years. "I've been truly blessed to have the opportunity to do what I love to do, at a great station, with a group of people, past and present, who mean so much to me."
In 2008, the National Association of Broadcasters honored WGY with the prestigious Crystal Award for exemplary public service. Chuck and staff have earned multiple Marconi Awards and more than 60 awards for excellence in journalism, including four national Edward R. Murrow Awards. In 2010, when Don Weeks retired, Chuck along with co-host Kelly Lynch took over as morning show hosts.
