Could Shareholder Group Block Emmis Buyout?

A group of Emmis stockholders led by Amalgamated Gadgets has put together a "lock-up agreement" under which they will all vote together against an exchange of preferred stock that's an essential part of CEO Jeff Smulyan's bid to take Emmis private. The nine shareholders together own enough preferred stock to block the buyout.

MagnaGlobal has updated its U.S. Media Advertising Revenue Forecast, upping its year-to-year growth expectation for media suppliers from 1.6% to 2.1%. These suppliers are expected to generate $169.9 billion in advertising revenues in 2010.

Canada's Corus Entertainment saw Q3 2010 net income of $31.4 million (39 cents per share), compared to a Q3 2009 net loss of $145 million ($1.81), while radio division revenue climbed 9% to $71.4 million. (Results are in Canadian dollars.)
