Radio reaches more than 239 million persons 12+ over the course of a typical week -- an increase of 4 million listeners from a year ago -- according to he RADAR 106 National Radio Listening Report, set to be released in full on September 20 by Arbitron.

NAB, CTIA Clash Over Harris Poll On Radio-Capable Cell Phones

The NAB has issued a statement in which it applauds the findings of an NAB-commissioned Harris Interactive poll that show most U.S. cell-phone users want to be able to listen to local radio through a built-in receiver on their phones. As expected, wireless-industry trade group the CTIA fired back, calling a government mandate of a cell-phone chip "the wrong answer."

Bridge Ratings Looks At 'Changing Tide Of Internet Radio'

Bridge Ratings took on the task of examining the growth each month in Ando Media's Webcast Metrics and found that listening to pure-play Internet stations increased at the expense of terrestrial stations that stream, noting that the study "unveils the urgency with which traditional radio must approach its digital future if it is to be positioned to take advantage of the increasing online advertising potential."

Pew: Fewer Turn To Radio For News

Digital platforms are playing a larger role in news consumption, according to a study by the Pew Research Center For People & The Press, with radio listening for news sliding to 34% of Americans this year. Still, Americans seem to be integrating the new technologies rather than replacing traditional news platforms.
