NAB Leaders Write To Lawmakers On Radio In Cellphones

NAB Joint Board Chair/Commonwealth Broadcasting President/CEO Steve Newberry and Radio Board Chair/Beasley Broadcast CFO Caroline Beasley write to members of the House and Senate Judiciary and Commerce Committees to refute wireless and consumer electronics trade groups' claim that consumers are abandoning radio, and to push what they describe as the "important consumer benefit that could be derived from unlocking the mobile phone market and granting consumer access to radio's free and unique offerings."

Tribune Creditors File Just-In-Case Reorg Plan

Tribune Co. creditors Oaktree Capital and Angelo, Gordon & Co. have jointly filed an alternative reorganization plan for Tribune that would let the company emerge from bankruptcy before the legal claims surrounding its buyout are settled. The hedge funds say the plan was submitted in case mediation set for later this month doesn't bring a "fully consensual" resolution between Tribune and its creditors.

Arbitron's latest RADAR report shows that network radio reached nearly 190 million people 12 and older, up from 187.7 million in RADAR 102 a year ago. The Dial Global Contemporary Network led the rankings for both 18-49s and 25-54s in the survey period.
