Emmis Delays Buyout Vote Again

Emmis Delays Buyout Vote Again

Emmis Communications on Wednesday evening postponed its shareholder meeting without a vote, for the ninth time, the Indianapolis Business Journal reports. The 10th attempt to bring the go-private plan to a vote by preferred shareholders is set for this morning. Emmis Chairman/CEO Jeff Smulyan's plan to buy out the company has been stalled by a preferred shareholders' group that has been holding out for a better deal on an exchange of their stock for new notes, and by last month's decision by Alden Global Capital to back out of its agreement to finance a tender offer of common stock that is the other key part of the transaction.
