WBAL Radio News Wins Five Awards

WBAL Radio News in Baltimore has been recognized as the Outstanding News Operation in the mid-Atlantic region by the Radio Television Digital News Association. RTDNA announced regional winners of the Edward R. Murrow Awards competition with WBAL winning in five categories, including the award for Overall Excellence.  The regional awards cover radio news operations in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia. 

In addition to being named the best news operation in the region,  RTDNA recognized WBAL 1090 AM for Outstanding Breaking News Coverage of the accident along the JFX that sent a Baltimore police officer off the elevated highway and onto the ground 20 feet below.

- WBAL was also honored in the category of Outstanding Continuing Coverage for The End of an Era,  which chronicled the death and funeral of political legend  William Donald Schaefer. 
- WBAL?s John Patti?s feature Doody Calls, about a man who lost his job and started a new business picking up after other people?s dogs, won top honors in the Feature Reporting category.
- WBAL.com was recognized as the Outstanding Radio affiliated website, the second award for the website in as many weeks.
