NPR News and the NPR news magazine Morning Edition have won a 2014 Peabody Award for The Race Card Project, a website and broadcast series that invites listeners to share thoughts on race and identity in six-word stories and puts them at the center of compelling reports and performances on race in America.
The Race Card Project was founded and curated by NPR host and special correspondent Michele Norris. Norris said, ?Producer Walter Ray Watson and I are so very grateful to all those who have shared their stories with us. That I was en route to Birmingham, Alabama, when this news was announced feels like a remarkable coincidence. On behalf of The Race Card Project team and NPR?s Morning Edition: color us happy! And cue the Pharrell!?
