PRA Inches Ahead, NAB Is Watching

The Performance Rights Act, earlier passed by the House Judiciary Committee, has now been reported out of committee in the lame-duck session. The Senate Judiciary Committees has also approved the bill, but it has not yet been scheduled for a vote in either body. NAB EVP Dennis Wharton said, " NAB is watching the waning days of the lame duck very closely to guard against a dark-of-night attempt to pass the bill."

Senators Send Letter Opposing FCC 'Net Neutrality' Rules

Twenty-nine senators have signed a letter to FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski strongly opposing the FCC's planned vote next week on new "net neutrality" regulations. The letter calls the FCC rules "an unjustified and unnecessary expansion of government control over private enterprise."
