Pittman: 'We Have Lots Of Growth Potential Ahead'

Clear Channel Communications Chairman/Media & Entertainment Platforms Bob Pittman told the capacity crowd at Radio Ink's Forecast conference yesterday that radio is "still a great medium." He said, "We have lots of growth potential ahead, with plenty of ad dollars available from the declining non-electronic media."

Sorkin Opens Radio Ink's Forecast

New York Times chief mergers and acquisitions reporter and United Stations Radio Networks personality Andrew Ross Sorkin opened Radio Ink's Forecast conference in New York Tuesday, talking about the state of the economy and prospects ahead. Concerning a recovery in jobs, he said, "We actually have a much longer road ahead of us than I suspect people want to hear about." But compared to what might have happened without the government bailouts in 2008, Sorkin said, "I think we often forget today that we are in a much better place than we could have possibly been."

FCC Fines KABR Licensee $5,600

The FCC has issued a $5,600 fine to KABR-AM/Isleta, NM licensee The Alamo Navajo School Board for the licensee's failure to file a license-renewal application for the station in a timely manner and for its operation of the station after authorization had expired.

FCC Reschedules FM Auction 91

The FCC has changed the date of Auction 91, for 144 FM construction permits, to April 27, 2011. The auction had been set for March 25.
