Christian Station Robbed, Knocked Off The Air

12-4-14

WCIS-AM "The Cross" in Morganton, North Carolina is off the air after thieves cut through a chain-link fence, broke into the station through a window, and did $50,000 worth of damage to the station's transmitter. Station owner John Whisnant woke up to dead air. When he arrived at the station he knew there was a big problem, telling WSOC-TV he was devastated. "Absolutely devastated. It's December. It's our biggest month." The station also has to pause a charity drive it was in the middle of until the station can find a used transmitter and get back on the air.
