Arbitron Says It's Way Too Early For New Web Based Measurement Program.

According to Arbitron "leapfrog" indicates a significant move forward in the radio survey business. But it's too early in the process to know whether this new way of gathering data will work or even become a reality. Leapfrog was part of the Radio Advisory Council meetings recently held and it appears council members - not Arbitron - at least want the industry to know this new program is being considered.

Once the deal to purchase Citadel closes, employees from both companies will not have to wait too long to see if they will become part of the long-term Cumulus picture. Cumulus CEO Lew Dickey told the assembled analysts and media Monday that changes are "front-loaded". The vast majority of changes, up to 80% of them, "should take six months".

Dickey: "Automotive Category is Bouncing Back"

In the Cumulus Q4 conference call, Cumulus CEO Lew Dickey reported that automotive, one of radio's strongest advertising category for decades, is returning. At Cumulus Media Inc, 4th quarter auto revenue was up 16% over 2009 and at Cumulus Media Partners, which represents the larger markets for Cumulus, 4th quarter auto revenue jumped 26%.

Uva Out as Univision President and CEO. Search Underway.

Univision Communications has announced today that Joe Uva, President and Chief Executive Officer, has informed the Board of Directors that he has chosen not to renew his employment agreement in order to be able to seek other opportunities. Uva will exit at the end of his contract on April 2nd. Univision will commence a search process for a new CEO immediately. To ensure a smooth transition, Haim Saban will assume additional responsibilities in his role as Executive Chairman until a new CEO is appointed.

The National Association of Broadcasters announced the 50 finalists for the 2011 Crystal Radio Awards competition today. Crystal Radio Award finalists were chosen by a panel of judges representing broadcasting, community service organizations and public relations firms. Finalists will be honored and winners announced at the Radio Luncheon, sponsored by ASCAP, on Tuesday, April 12, during the NAB Show in Las Vegas.

Steve Kerrigan of "Kerrigan & Christopher" Dies of Multiple Myeloma

Steve Kerrigan (pictured left), who rose to radio fame as part of "Kerrigan & Christopher" at WTUE in Dayton lost his battle with Multiple Myeloma Monday. He was 51. Steve, along with partner Chris Geisen, brought ratings success and national notoriety to the station during their 1986-1999 run as a morning show team that displayed a knack for cutting edge humor and headline grabbing stunts.

Radio One Signs Multi-Year Deal With Metro Traffic

Metro Traffic, a Westwood One company, has announced a multi-year agreement with Radio One to be the exclusive traffic content partner for the companys 52 radio stations. In addition to traffic services, Metro will also provide news and weather information to Radio One stations in 16 markets.

Katie Lamele-Strauss is promoted to Vice President, Sales, and Alison Trumper to Senior Account Executive in New York, and David Noviello to Vice President, Sales, in Los Angeles. All three of these individuals are exceptional salespeople, said Chad Brown, President of Katz Radio.

Davidson has over 15 years experience in radio and sports advertising. Her background includes Sales Manager positions with Delmarva Broadcasting and Westwood One Company as well as FOX 29 in Philadelphia. Most recently, Davidson served as General Manager for Atlantic Broadcasting in southern New Jersey.

Cumulus Net Revenue For Q4 Increases Less Than 1%. 2010 Net Rev Up 2.8%

Cumulus released Q4 and 2010 results ahead of a 9AM conference call and reported net revenues for the three months ended December 31, 2010 increased $0.2 million, or 0.3%, to $69.8 million, compared to $69.6 million for the three months ended December 31, 2009. Cash revenue increased $3.8 million, or 6.2%, for the three months ending December 31, 2010, but was offset by a decrease in non-cash trade revenue of $3.6 million, or 45.6%, as compared to the three months ended December 31, 2009.
