Slacker's Cady to Keynote Convergence

Slacker's Jim Cady Signs On As
Keynote Speaker At Convergence

Radio Ink is pleased to announce that Slacker Radio CEO Jim Cady will be a keynote speaker at Convergence 11, which will be held May 18-19 at the Microsoft Silicon Valley Campus in Mountain View, CA. Cady is taking the Internet radio space by storm with his Slacker Radio concept.

"Our thought is to deliver the consumer more personalized content with a lot less work," Cady told Radio Ink in an upcoming cover interview. "Hence the name. We cater to what we refer to as 'busy music lovers.' We give consumers the ability to listen to content they want with a variety of choices."

What's even more interesting is that Cady says Slacker isn't too far away from profitability, and it could be profitable now. You'll want to hear how he's taking an Internet company into that profit column, and about some of the ideas and concepts that are resulting in tens of thousands of listeners turning to his product. Maybe you'll leave Convergence with a plan to duplicate what Cady is doing at your own company.

Cady has led two startups to annual revenues of more than $100 million and successfully led established,  publicly held companies. The majority of his career has been spent in consumer electronics, including a stint as president of Rio Digital Audio, a pioneering digital-music-industry company whose core technology has been recognized as one of the 100 Most Important Developments by the Consumer Electronics Association.

While at Rio, Jim grew sales from zero to over $150 million in a three-year period before selling the company to SONICblue. Before Rio, he was a group president at Diamond Multimedia and EVP & COO at Supra Corp. His honors include a Silver Anvil Award from the Public Relations Society of America for best consumer products marketing campaign for Rio Digital Audio, and more than 150 best product awards globally during his career.

"We're excited to have Jim Cady join the Convergence lineup," Radio Ink VP/General Manager Deborah Parenti said. "His insight and perspective are what this year's agenda is all about -- presenting creative vision and ideas that help stations develop richer, deeper digital media solutions beyond a website."

About Radio Ink's Convergence
Now in its third year, Radio Ink's
Convergence is the "next generation" of the Radio Ink Internet Conferences held during the dot-com era. Convergence reflects the changes since that time and the next generation of things radio needs to be thinking about. It's more than the Internet; it's about things that are converging and gathering audiences, such as the next generations of the Web, digital media, search, user-generated content, social media, podcasting, mobile-casting, online video, audio, streaming, texting, and so much more. This conference is for everyone who wants to see a future for radio, including owners, CEOs, market managers, sales managers, program directors, advertisers, podcasters and online broadcasters.
