NPR Stations Across The Country Scoring Big Dollars With Members & Strangers

NPR Stations Across The Country Scoring Big Dollars With Members & Strangers

It could be another sign that the economy is moving into positive territory. It could also mean that voters are not in favor of elected officials meddling with National Public Radio and they are speaking with their wallets. A lot of stories are popping up about how NPR affiliated stations are blowing their membership goal numbers out of the water. Whatever it means, it's good news for NPR budgets and it comes at a perfect time, when the feds are considering cutting funds to NPR.

Why Did Buckley Broadcasting Really Drop Glenn Beck?

Why Did Buckley Really Drop Glenn Beck?

Just a few days after Eric Fahnoe Vice President/General Manager for Buckley Radio in Connecticut told Radio Ink that Beck was lifted so his stations could go local, Rick Buckley is quoted by Media Matters being a little more harsh on Beck. Buckley told Media Matters Beck bounces around pretty radically. "I think he confuses people, they're not sure where he is coming from. It can change day to day, hour to hour. Consistency is, I think, the path to success in broadcasting, in radio for sure, whether it be music or talk. Glenn is sort of all over the park from time to time."

Talker Alex Jones Gets Profile. Beck Stole my Stuff.

The piece is called "A Strange Man is Following You" and it touches on many of Jones' conspiracy theories. He also goes into Glenn Beck attack mode in the piece. "Glenn Beck climbed over my back. "He's like a fiddler crab that grabbed the shell off my back and scurried over me. He's got psychological-warfare operatives writing some of that teleprompter stuff. It's very sophisticated. It's very dangerous."
Abrupt. WSIX Program Director Keith Kaufman Out.

Abrupt. WSIX Nashville PD Keith Kaufman Out.

Clear Channel Market Manager Tom English offers up a short e-mail about the situation in Nashville. "Keith Kaufman is no longer a member of the WSIX team. We wish Keith well in all of his future endeavors. Our search for the Next Great Country Programmer begins immediately. Interested parties should send their information to PD@wsix.com." Kaufman has been running the ship at WSIX for nearly 15 years and the change seems to be a shocker to everyone in the industry. We sent Kaufman an e-mail looking for some details but have not heard back.
