Twitter Fade? Edison and Arbitron Report Growth in Twitter Usage Slows.

Edison Research teased a social media research report to be released later this spring. The conduct the research every year with Arbitron and the teaser had to do with the growth of Twitter. Research is showing that although the awareness of Twitter is nearly universal growth in usage has slowed. Growth from 2010 to 2011 was 7% to 8%. From 2009 to 2010 the increase was 2% to 7%. 8% of Americans 12+ is approximately 20 million people.

FCC Chairman Could be Moving to The White House.

The Hill is reporting that some high ranking democrats are saying that President Obama is considering FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski as Secretary of Commerce. The current secretary Gary Locke is reportedly heading to China as ambassador. Genachowski campaigned for the president back in 2008.

Genachowski to Deliver Keynote at NAB on April 12th

The chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, Julius Genachowski, will deliver a keynote speech during the 2011 NAB Show in Las Vegas. Genachowski's remarks will be made during the FCC Chairman's Breakfast on Tuesday, April 12. "The FCC is currently considering many political and regulatory issues that will have a lasting impact on the broadcast industry," said NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith

America's Radio News Network and TRN Add Another 3-Hour Daily News Program.

Fourth 3-hour daily co-anchored news day part to air 6p.m. to 9p.m. eastern starting May 9th. TRN says the next launch is being accelerated due to affiliate demand and current world events. ARNN's first 3-hour daily block of all news programming, broadcast Monday-Friday at noon to 3 p.m. EST was launched January 24th.

Trial of Former WRKO Boston Host Reese Hopkins Starts in New York City

The host who called himself the "Crossover Negro" on the air is accused of sexually abusing two 11-year-old girls in 2004 and raping one of them. One of the girls was the daughter of another radio personality. The attorney for Hopkins says the charges are false. Lawyers for both sides made opening statements Tuesday in the Hopkins trial in Manhattan.
