Has the FCC Gotten Fine Happy? Part One of a Five Part Radio Ink Series

A big fine for an incomplete public file. Another fine for failing to renew a license. Didn't reduce power when you were supposed to? Break out the check book. Forget to tell a caller he's being recorded? Fine. Not fine, it's OK fine. Fine, FCC fine. Yesterday's $10,000 Cumulus NAL for public file violations got me wondering, has the FCC stepped up efforts to peg Radio stations for every rule on the books all of a sudden?

Home Depot, Verizon Spend Big Bucks on Radio.

According to the latest Media Monitors report for the week of February 21st, The Home Depot and Verizon made big Radio purchases shooting them up toward the top of the list of Radio spenders. The Home Depot moved from the number 11 spot up to number 3. And Verizon, no doubt touting its iPhone pickup, went from number 45 on the list to number 6.

Citadel Reduces Dallas Staff in Dallas.

Robert Minton, VP of Business Development and formerly VP of Marketing at Citadel Media/ABC Radio Networks last official day will be this Friday, March 4th, 2011. Robert has been with the network sine 2008, when then President Jim Robinson brought him on board. Robert has held three positions at network, starting as the director of business development, then VP of Marketing under Omar Thompson and VP of Business Development answering to the networks SVP of Finance and Strategy, Ken Mayer.

Clear Channel Grabs Glynn Alan From Entercom. Makes Him Market Manager for Colorado SpringsIn his new position, Alan will be responsible for CCU's Colorado Springs cluster. Alan joins Clear Channel from Entercom’s KOSI-FM in Denver, where he served as General Sales Manager. Prior to that, he was the Sports Sales Manager for Clear Channel’s Denver cluster, and also served as a sports sales person for Jacor in Tampa, FL.

Wall Street Journal to Launch New Daily Talk Program

The Wall Street Journal Radio Network has announced plans to launch a new, live evening show called “The Daily Wrap from The Wall Street Journal with Michael Castner.� The new show should be ready to start this spring. The broadcast will originate from the Journal’s headquarters in New York City and air live each weekday from 6-9 p.m. ET.

WMMS Cleveland Picks up The Nicki Sixx Program.

Cleveland’s 100.7 WMMS-FM has added Nikki Sixx to the station. The syndicated show will air weekdays from 7 - midnight. The addition of WMMS-FM marks the 60th affiliation for Sixx Sense with Nikki Sixx, which celebrated its one-year anniversary this month.
