(AUDIO) Nearly Four Decades of Solid Leadership

5-12-14

JD Freeman has been a manager for 37 of his 43 years in the radio business. In addition to his current leadership role as Market President for Clear Channel in San Francisco, Freeman has worked in Los Angeles, Dallas and Phoenix. At the age of 64, Freeman announced he's retiring from radio to spend more time with his wife and work on new projects. He tells Radio Ink, "It's time." Several reasons Freeman has been such a successful manager for nearly four decades is his ability to lead people, especially Type A personalities that you find in major radio markets, and his understanding of the need to change and evolve the radio product as fickle consumers shift how they expect to receive it. Freeman was also part of a Dallas coalition of radio managers that started the Amber Alert emergency service, which is now a national program most consumers receive instantly on their phones via text. Ever wonder what it takes to be able to last in an industry shrinking in terms of number of people it employs? Listen to our interview with JD Freeman HERE. Reach out to Freeman to wish him good luck Jdfreeman@clearchannel.com
