NAB, iBiquity Respond To HD Power-Up Petitions

The NAB and HD Radio developer iBiquity Corp. have filed responses to petitions for reconsideration of the Media Bureau's decision to allow blanket power digital increases for FMs. Both say that the Media Bureau duly considered objections from Media Access Project and other groups, and iBiquity notes that the bureau was obligated to consider the arguments, but "it was not obligated to agree with them."

Beasley Takes On Two More In Vegas

Beasley Broadcast Group has made a deal with GGB Las Vegas to manage KOAS-FM and KVGS-FM in Las Vegas. GGB, formed by Beasley Broadcast CEO George Beasley, also secures an option to buy the stations from Riviera Broadcast Group for $8.5 million.

CAIR Files Complaint Against Talk Host

The Council on American-Islamic relations has filed a complaint with the FCC over remarks made on the air by KPRC/Houston talk host Michael Berry. Berry is quoted as having said, "You can't build a mosque at the site of 9/11" and adding, "If it is, I hope it's blown up." Berry denies advocating bombing any mosque, though he called the remark "dumb, and beneath me."
