BMI, RMLC Reach Interim Agreement

BMI, RMLC Reach Interim Agreement

BMI and the Radio Music License Committee have reached an agreement in interim fees that will bring radio's rate to $192 million, down from $217 million. The interim fee is effective August 1 and holds until a court determination on a final rate.

MMTC: Suspend Broadcast EEO Rule 

MMTC: Suspend Broadcast EEO Rule

The Minority Media and Telecommunications Council, disappointed by the FCC's EEO enforcement, is asking FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski to suspend the broadcast EEO rule for three months while the commission works to "revitalize the program and reaffirm the agency's commitment to ensuring opportunities for minorities and women in broadcasting and all of the commission's regulated industries." The MMTC has 10 recommendations for the FCC, including tripling EEO enforcement staff.

Genachowski Praises White House Broadband Plan

FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski calls the Obama administration's plan for a "sustained effort' to free up 500 MHz of spectrum for wireless broadband, announced Monday, a "critical step toward ensuring that America will lead the world in mobile broadband."
