It's a long way away, perhaps a year, but the BBC says it's working on a single stream that intelligently switches between programs based on a listener's preferences. It could be a live program, a podcast, a news or sports report. The service would automatically change stations based on what the listener likes, after all, nobody listens to the same music or the same format day after day, for hours on end.
